How to Play MovieWordle Classic

MovieWordle Classic is the original Movie Wordle daily movie guessing game — a test of deduction, not pictures. Every day at midnight (America/New_York) a hidden film goes live, and you start the round with 10 points and nothing but a title bar.

You can guess immediately, or spend points to open clues. Hidden facts — IMDb rating, release year, genre, and runtime — each cost 1 point. Review clues go deeper: the first review is free, the second costs 1 point, and the final two cost 2 points each. Every wrong guess also costs 1 point, and repeated titles are blocked, so every guess has to count.

Guess the movie and the round ends instantly — you keep whatever score you have left. If your score hits zero, you get one last chance to name the film before the answer is revealed.

How does scoring work?

Every round starts with 10 points. Revealing a hidden fact costs 1 point. The first review clue is free, the second costs 1 point, and the last two cost 2 points each. Every incorrect guess costs 1 point too, and repeated titles are blocked. Solve the movie and you keep whatever points are left.

What happens if my score reaches zero?

You get one final guess before the answer is revealed — so zero points doesn't end the round, it just means the pressure is on.

What kind of clues can I reveal?

Two kinds. Hidden facts cover the movie's metadata: IMDb rating, release year, genre, and runtime, each for 1 point. Review clues are longer, human-written hints about the film's tone and reputation — the first is free, then they get progressively more expensive.

Should I guess early or reveal more clues?

It's a judgment call. Guessing early protects your score, but a wrong guess costs 1 point, and random guessing burns through your budget fast. The strongest rounds usually come from revealing just enough to make a confident call.
